Privacy Policy
1) Information we collect
- Network + device data: IP address, timestamps, approximate location derived from IP, browser and device identifiers, user agent, language, time zone, screen/device/network characteristics, and related technical signals used to operate, secure, and moderate the service.
- Chat + upload data: text messages, file uploads, and session/channel metadata may be logged for safety, abuse prevention, investigations, service integrity, debugging, and moderation.
- Video safety data: when video features are enabled, the service may capture and store periodic safety screenshots and related moderation metadata, including report links and model or review results.
- Reports + enforcement data: when you report someone, we may store the report type, reason, time, match/session identifiers, IP/device/fingerprint data, and related evidence used to investigate or take action.
- Payments: if you purchase paid features, payment processors may collect billing and transaction information directly from you. We may receive limited transaction and status metadata.
- Analytics + advertising data: on some public pages we use third-party analytics and advertising services that may receive IP address, cookie or device identifiers, page views, referrer information, and browser/device data.
2) How we use information
- Provide the service, including matching, messaging, video chat, uploads, payments, and support.
- Protect users and the service through anti-spam controls, ban enforcement, abuse detection, moderation, and safety review.
- Investigate reports, preserve evidence, respond to incidents, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
- Debug, monitor, secure, and improve reliability, performance, and product quality.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to valid legal process, and prevent harm.
3) Cookies, local storage, and tracking
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for essential functionality, fraud prevention, device/session continuity, preferences, analytics, and in some places advertising measurement or delivery. Blocking these technologies may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
4) Sharing and disclosure
We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- With service providers that help us operate the site, such as hosting, infrastructure, storage, security, analytics, advertising, and payment providers.
- To investigate abuse, protect users, prevent harm, and enforce our policies.
- To comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, make emergency disclosures, or cooperate with law enforcement.
- When child safety, exploitation, enticement, trafficking, or similar harm is reported or apparent, we may preserve and disclose relevant information as required or permitted by law, including to NCMEC’s CyberTipline and law enforcement.
We do not represent the service as a no-logging or no-monitoring product. We do not sell personal information for money. On some public pages, disclosures to analytics or advertising partners may be treated as “sharing” under certain privacy laws.
5) Data retention and preservation
We retain data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, including operation, moderation, security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. Retention can vary by data type and by incident. We may place specific records, including chats, reports, screenshots, files, device/profile data, and related metadata, on a longer preservation hold when a matter involves child safety, threats, exploitation, fraud, abuse investigations, legal process, or other safety-critical review.
6) Children and safety
OmegleWeb is adults-only (`18+`). If we become aware that a user may be underage or that conduct may involve child sexual exploitation, grooming, enticement, trafficking, or related abuse, we may restrict access, preserve relevant information, and make reports or disclosures required or permitted by law.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement immediately. You can also report child sexual exploitation to NCMEC’s CyberTipline at missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline.
7) Your choices and privacy requests
- Disconnect at any time.
- Use browser controls to block cookies/local storage, understanding that some site features may stop working.
- Do not use video mode if you do not want camera frames captured for safety moderation.
- Contact us with privacy questions or requests. If applicable law gives you access, deletion, correction, or opt-out rights, include enough information for us to identify the records at issue.
